When Lubrication for Industry and Prostitution Behind the Veil come through the return chute together, I can't help but giggle.
It's going to be a very bison Christmas, but today it's: Happy birthday Kristin!

I just came across this report via librariesinteract on the Australian public library service for the years 2005 & 2006.
178,740,362 loans for a population of ~20 million is pretty big.
But the 3.1 internet terminals per 10,000 people is super lame.
22,047 loans per full-time equivalent staff is insane! Hmm, actually it's not so insane after a little theorycrafting, with 84 loans per day for a 260 working-day year which comes down to 10 loans an hour... then again, there is usually a divide between staff who work loans and those who don't and it'd be reasonable to double that loans per day for the average loans desk staff. Unfortunately there was no stat for rants per capita.
I love my job.
After work yesterday I snuck off home to work on a birthday present for Kris... and a single WSG on Hitek (3-0 win - huzzah for two Frost Mages on defense). Eventually I rolled off to the city to meet Kris & her girls for birthday dinner and drinks. And more drinks. I did refrain from the bison vodka however. Mel & Lucy came to say hi, which was great because I haven't seen Mel in much too long because I'm a bad friend. Kris was pretty wobbly on the ride home, but we made it unscathed (well, not entirely, she fell once but didn't do much injury).
So it's been a slow-in-my-brain day. I think I'll go straight to bed when I get home. Mmm, bed.
Heard of PLCMC's 23 things? Probably not, as it's a library geek thing. Anyway, we're doing a knock-off version at RMIT which I'm going to be involved in. So I just have to more fully explore YouTube, flickr, wikis, mashups, etc. Specious? Perhaps, but I've already found a few neat library blogs in the process.
Come on 3:42, I want to go home and sleep!
caffeine+bling - awesome
caffeine+breath - pure awesome
Yesterday's work lunch was great: two and a half hours of yummy food, red wine and gossip. All washed down with Turkish style coffee, complete with fortunes told via the gluggy mess in the bottom of the cup. Though all my cup consisted of was what looked to be flames, which we decided to interpret as passion. As much as the food was good, I can never quite get past the man that works there, who is always so dis-interested and rude. We didn't get to order, he literally grumbled when Mary asked if we could get something in the way of a vegetarian dish and then stalked off.
My latest effort on Warcraft is proving a delight. Run in, Frostbolt(Rank 1) everything in sight (if it's not blue, it will be), Frost Nova if swarmed and Polymorph any healers in sight. Kiting twinked Rogues and Warriors from side to side is my favourite ("What's that, you've got Shadowfang? Well, say hello to endless chill effects while I kill you with a wand!").
Time for me to head out to the Brunswick Library, ciao.
Dear Livejournal,
How have you been? I see there's a whole lot of entries people have been writing which I need to catch up on. Yes I did give Facebook a go, but the interface killed any hopes I had for it. Granted Facebook isn't quite so painful as Myspace, but still, l2interface.
Me, I've been doing the usual mish-mash of stuff. Still working at the library, with my contract having been recently extended until 31 December 2008... I'm not sure how that sentence should end, with an exclamation mark or some disparaging remark because I'm fickle about these things. More work is good, I know it is, but somehow it's not as good as it could be.
Uni is over for the semester, but if I am going to re-enroll I must do so in the next two days... *gulp*.
Hmm, lots of stuff missing since my last post... a quick holiday to the Gold Coast which involved lots of, "OMG this place is horrendous, pass the gin". Kris had an interview there and I said I'd tag along for a little holiday. The day after the Gold Coast interview she had another in Auckland, so off we flew. Auckland was much nicer than the Gold Coast: a real city, with windy streets, hills that'd leave even the lamest bicycle commuter with ripped calves after a month. Neither job came through, but it was fun to get away.
Had a weekend in Sorrento, where Kris and her osteo kids had been getting obscenely drunk for a week. So, I got some cherry vodka and joined in. The vodka was ahh... best when mixed. Also discovered another Polish vodka, "flavoured with the grass the bison love to eat"! Sounds awesome, hey? So, there's a little plan for the bison vodka come Christmas, but I can't spill those beans quite yet.
Went back to Electundra with Kris the other weekend which brought out my love for the cello once again. Haven't looked at the DVD which came with the cover-charge and I still need to track down the CD, but all the live music was great. The bar-man was odd, real odd. I'm not entirely convinced he interacts with people on a regular basis.
Time to go, it's our work Christmas lunch at the Lebanese House (hopefully the belly dancer will come and torment Hailu again!).
